North West Regional Development Team

Some of our aims are to communicate news and events. Assist volunteer clubs. Provide financial contributions, bursaries, and rewards. Improve number and quality of facilities. Arrange meetings and organise events. Encourage regular participation.

Introduction

The North West Region is active within many areas of paddling ranging from introducing people to paddling through to national level competitions. We are involved in all of the disciplines of the sport including recreational paddling to competitions and expeditions.

Your regional development team has been set up by British Canoeing to support all paddling opportunities and all paddling disciplines in the North West region.

We have a number of excellent paddling facilities within the region, among them: Salford Watersports Centre, Halton Rapids and Burrs Country Park.

The region has a number of clubs and commercial centres and providers.

The Chair, on behalf of the Regional Development Team, reports to the English Council twice a year. This is an opportunity to shape British Canoeing’s activities in your region and air your views.

Aims

Our aims are listed below:

  • Provide access and facility advice.
  • Support clubs.

Meetings

Meetings are held at least quarterly and are open to all individual British Canoeing members as well as members of affiliated clubs. Anyone can submit an agenda item and we encourage all affiliated clubs to send representatives.

Members are elected to the committee at an Annual Consultative Meeting which is held in November.

We encourage club and discipline specific committee representatives to attend the meetings to ensure we are able to assist with issues and to gain ideas from grass roots levels.

All paddlers from across the region are invited to come to the meeting to learn about what has happened in the year, share ideas to improve paddling in the region and to voice opinions that can then be taken to British Canoeing central the following year.

Below are the approved previous meeting minutes.
