Paracanoe - Podium Potential

Stewart recently joined the Paracanoe World Class programme with British Canoeing and paddles in the VL3 category.

Stew first got into the sport back in 2010 through his local club, Chelmsford Canoe Club. Competing at a National Regatta in Nottingham, Stewart found out more about the paracanoe squad from there and started racing internationally the year after.

Making his international debut for Great Britain in Szeged during a World Cup in 2011, one of Stewart's career highlights came the next year, as he narrowly missed out on a podium place in the men's KL2 during the 2012 World Championships in Poland, finishing 4th.

2019 saw Stewart re-join the international set-up and won the men's VL2 B Final at the World Championships, Szeged in the same year.

Going into the rearranged Tokyo Paralympic Games year in 2021, Stewart will look to qualify his spot for the men's VL2 in the summer, as the event was added to the Paralympic programme ahead of Tokyo.

Living in Chelmsford and working in Media and Sales Consultancy, Stewart is an avid member of the Chelmsford Canoe Club and regularly competes in club races.
