A series of storming Olympic performances capped off an incredible 2021 season for Deborah Kerr, finishing 8th in the K1 200m final on her Games debut at Tokyo 2020.
Motherwell’s Deborah Kerr booked her place for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to cap off an incredible 2021 season. Winning both the K1 200m and K1 500m at the April selection regatta, followed by her first international senior medal with bronze at the World Cup in Szeged, Deborah powered to 8th place in the 200m final, as well as a quarter-final finish in the K1 500m
Coming into the competition off the back of winning the K1W 200m boat quota place for Great Britain in the European Olympic Qualifier, Deborah continued to show she has the pace to compete at the top of the event.
Deborah was part of the Olympic Ambitions programme in Rio 2016 along with her coach Kristina and compatriot Emily Lewis.
In 2018 she competed in the K4 500m race at World Cup 1 in Szeged finishing 7th in a hotly contested race. The K4 500m boat also has another 7th place at World Cup 2 in Duisberg. Deborah also competed in the K2 500m race in Duisberg, finishing 15th overall.
2017 Deborah competed in the women's K2 and K4 500m classes. Prior to her bronze in 2021, she had her best result at World Cup 1 in Montemor-O-Veho with a 5th place in the K2 500m. World Cup 2 in Szeged, Hungary, followed with a 6th place in the K2 500m. The World Championships in Racice saw her take 9th place with her team-mates in the K4 500m showing a strong finish in a year with great results.
Deborah is studying for a Sports Science degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and began paddling in 2008.
