22 years ago, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped…oh…wait…that's The A Team…pretty close though.
Leam Boat Centre was founded in 2001 with the intention of bringing affordable paddlesport and river based recreation to the community. Since its inception, we’ve taken on an additional centre in Warwick, running with this same ethos!
Whether our customers are having their first go, advancing their own paddling skills or launching themselves down something…spicy… we try to help out as best we can, either with our on-site kit shop or letting one of our exceptionally talented coaches loose on the water.
It is part of our intention to get people out on the water, therefore we have a wide variety of groups who come to us for activities, such as; school groups, youth organisations, the WI, as well as charity groups. Each one will get an experience tailored to their needs and wants. Our community based view has also led us to create a SUP Club and a Home Educated Kids Course, both of which have become exceptionally popular after the rising interest of paddling during lockdown. This has become a wonderful & eclectic paddling community in its own right.
We are so lucky to work on such a beautiful section of water and we consider it our duty to not only look after our river but to also educate our customers to look after our waterways as they explore them. We do this by working with environmental groups such as Keep Britain Tidy and the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, to orchestrate river cleans and other community projects, as well as teaching young people about the environment and how to look after rivers. We have built this idea into every course we run, regardless of the age.
It is at this point we would like to thank our young deck and coaching staff for the incredible efforts they've put into helping us win this award and their exceptional hard work and boundless enthusiasm for the sport.
All of our water sports team are proud British Canoeing Instructors and Coaches and have all loved the process of getting their awards, and we want to share that experience with others. Being a Delivery Partner gets our brand to a wide range of potential clients, as well as helps us to forge relationships with other centres.
As a centre, we have been aligned with British Canoeing ever since our humble beginnings in 2001 when Matt Bishop founded the company.
