Lindsay Thorpe wins Celebrating Rushcliffe Award

Congratulations to paracanoe athlete Lindsay Thorpe who won Sportsperson of the Year at the 2023 Celebrating Rushcliffe Awards.

Residents, groups and community heroes took their place in a showcase celebration event at Rushcliffe Arena in West Bridgford yesterday (30 November)

The awards celebrate the Borough’s wonderful volunteers, businesses and environmentalists, clubs, organisations, and the best of its health and wellbeing, sport and food and drink sectors and local enterprise.

Lindsay won the Sportsperson of the Year award after an impressive season in paracanoe, winning silver at the European Championships in the women’s KL3 event.


The Newark 4As paddler was shortlisted alongside Barney Corrall and Megan Stacey.

On winning the award, Lindsay said:

"Im so pleased to have won, still in abit of shock to be honest, Rushcliffe is full of sporting talent and the other nominees are so inspirational. 


"It was amazing to see all the incredible community work  that happens in Rushcliffe being celebrated at the awards."


Congratulations to Nottingham Kayak Club who were also shortlisted at the awards for Young Person or Group of the Year.
