British Canoeing offer new Sporting Wellness service

British Canoeing is pleased to offer a new service for its athletes through mental health and wellbeing charity, Sporting Wellness, which is accessible for aged 16 and over on a GB junior, U23 and senior team or part of a National Association development programme.

Sporting Wellness

The collaboration is part of British Canoeing and its National Associations’ commitment to ensuring access to mental health and wellbeing support to our elite athletes.

Any athlete aged 16 or over included on Great Britain junior, U23 or Senior teams, or who are part of a National Association development programme, can have guaranteed access to a suite of wellbeing services with no costs, no waiting lists, no minimum illness requirements and 100% confidentiality.

These services will remain available to athletes for up to 2 years after Great Britain team inclusion or after they leave their National Association development programme.

The services include:

  • Counselling sessions

  • 24/7/365 support line and LiveChat

  • 24/7/365 professional legal guidance

  • An online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Programme (CBT)

  • Wisdom AI – an AI platform for instant wellbeing advice

  • Extensive wellbeing tools and engaging features

  • And much more

The service represents a significant step forward in the recognition of the importance of positive mental health in performance sport. Wellbeing is a priority for British Canoeing and its National Associations, and that we are committed to providing our athletes with the support they need to thrive, both on and off the water.
