Talent Club Champion programme launched

British Canoeing is pleased to announce the launch of the Talent Club Champion programme.

Club Champion

The programme is now one of four club accreditation programmes the organisation is delivering to support clubs to develop and improve in specific areas. The Talent Club Champion programme joins #ShePaddles, Junior Club Development and Clear Access Clear Waters (CACW) in the Champion Club accreditations available for clubs to complete and obtain.

The Talent Club Champion programme is available to any British Canoeing affiliated club in England and has been designed to help clubs in developing their provision for talented members. The programme provides a club diagnostic tool which enables a club to identify strengths and areas for improvement in developing talented paddlers, as well as provide opportunities to develop learning through the resource section which seeks to share good practice and provide relevant information support learning.

The diagnostic tool helps create a bespoke action plan which the club can use to make the changes it chooses to best support talented members.

Chris Earle, Head of Recreational Paddling said:

“The Talent Club Champion programme is a great starting point for any club wanting to create an environment that encourages all it’s young paddlers to develop their skills and understanding. It helps coaches, parents and other volunteers understand and hopefully put in place, the critical elements required to develop talented paddlers.”

The programme strongly aligns with the established Talent Club Partnership and has been created by taking key learnings from some of the best practice in the club community. With this in mind, British Canoeing is seeking to make available and share knowledge, expertise and insight to more clubs in this area through the Talent Club Champion programme.
