British Canoeing’s England Talent Programme is delighted to announce that after a thorough selection process the following clubs have been appointed as Slalom Talent Club Partners for the 2021-2025 cycle.
The three Slalom Talent Club Partners are:
Frome Canoe Club
Stafford & Stone Canoe Club
Wyedean Canoe Club
The Talent Club Partnership is striving to build stronger clubs with more paid coaching positions and better links across the pathway. The objective is for clubs and the England Talent Programme to work more collaboratively to enable the sport as a whole to grow and continue to be successful on the world stage.
In line with the recent England Canoe Slalom Talent Strategy, these clubs will play a pivotal role in supporting this vision.
Talent Club Partnership Manager, Charlie Barwis said:
It is a really exciting time for the Talent Club Partnership and I believe these three clubs will be strong partners moving forward.– Talent Club Partnership Manager, Charlie Barwis
"I recognise that within the Slalom community, the cultural change towards paid coaches is perceived as a big leap. I am however confident that in working closely and collaboratively with Frome, Wyedean and Stafford & Stone, we will not only develop three clubs with sustainable structures for paid coaches, but also be able to help and inspire other clubs to move in this direction."
The Talent Club Partnership is wider than just the three Slalom Talent Club Partners identified here. With the introduction of the Talent Club Champion tier, the partnership can provide a variety of support to enable more clubs to develop their talent development provision. For those clubs interested in Talent Club Champion support, this programme is still in development but will be launched in the next 3-4 weeks.
