Following an exciting week of racing at the Szeged World Cup, the British Canoeing Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe International Panel has released the attached statement.
The purpose of this statement is to provide an update on the process of Olympic and Paralympic qualification in accordance with the published policies.
In line with the selection policies and following the completion of the appeal process, those athletes who have achieved the selection criteria will be nominated to either the British Olympic Association or the British Paralympic Association for formal ratification before Games places are confirmed.
The International panel recognises that the selection policy can seem a complicated process and in the situation that you have a question about the application of the policy or wish to simply discuss an aspect of the selection process then we would welcome the opportunity to assist. Due to this complexity of the Olympic Qualification process and the application of the policy we have prepared an appendix in the statement to guide the community through the process. If you have any questions, please contact the chair of the IP, details can be found within the statement.
We would also like to wish Katie Reid and Charlie Smith the best of luck as they will be contesting two further opportunities for quota places in Barnaul, Russia at the end of the week.
