Help decide who wins our Outstanding Coach Award! Voting now open!

Outstanding Coach Award - sponsored by Gill

This award recognises an outstanding individual who has made a significant difference through coaching. (The winner of this award will be the English nomination to the UK Geoff Good Award)

Voting is now open until Sunday 21st November where you can help us decide who will be the overall winner. The following candidates have been shortlisted as the top 3 in the 'Outstanding Coach’ category.

Attila Herbent

Nominated by Jen Warren

Reason for nomination

Attila brought Paracanoe to Leamington Spa. He has inspired and developed both able-bodied and para-athletes to a national standard. Attila goes above and beyond to facilitate training. This has been especially tough this year due to Covid. He always has a smile whatever the weather. I would have stopped paddling without his influence. He’s so inspiring and you always want to do your best in his sessions. I feel so lucky to have Attila as a coach.

Mark Collinson

Nominated by Emma Kitchen

Reason for nomination

Mark is one of those coaches who beavers away without making a fuss. He is the chief instructor at the Anderton Centre. In 2018 Mark set up the Anderton Centre Paddlesports Club to help engage the wider community in paddling activities.

Mark is one of the most caring and genuine people I know who will bend over backwards to help anyone. Mark is also incredibly kind towards everyone. Even after a full 10hr day at work, he will be down at the club for another 2-3 hours chatting to members old and new, helping members get to grips with a new craft or develop skills. He is an incredibly talented paddler and very modest. He quietly goes about it with a smile on his face and his passion for paddling shines through constantly. No matter what age or stage someone is at with their paddling, Mark will happily give his time to help anyone. I can’t think of someone who deserves the award more.

Sarah Jane Coombes

Nominated by Jon Larsen

Reason for nomination

The most inclusive and encouraging person I know. After 7 months of chemo and scarred lungs and no hearing (from side effects), Sarah helped me get my stamina back and to start looking forwards.

Sarah has also helped countless others simultaneously without interfering, questioning or judging. She is without question an outstanding coach.
