British Canoeing’s England Talent Programme is delighted to announce that after a thorough selection process the following clubs have been appointed as Paracanoe Talent Club Partners for the 2021-2023.
Norwich Canoe Club
Royal Leamington Spa Canoe Club
The Paracanoe Talent Club Partnership is possible thanks to the support and investment from SportsAid’s Backing the Best programme. With this support, British Canoeing is striving to build the foundation of a Paracanoe Pathway in clubs and develop a deeper understanding and pathway capability to offer and promote opportunities to underrepresented communities through the Paracanoe Talent Club Partnership.
Talent Club Partnership Manager, Charlie Barwis said:
“Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the support we have received from SportAid’s Backing the Best programme which has enabled us to continue and build upon the work of the Paracanoe Talent Club Partnership established in 2019. The partnership is a significant component in our Paracanoe talent pathway. It provides greater opportunities for paracanoe athletes on the periphery of our World Class Programme squad, to train and develop in well run, well equipped and professionally coached club environments.
In Norwich & Royal Leamington Spa, we have two clubs returning to continue their work as Paracanoe Talent Club Partners, and in Fladbury, we welcome a notable club in flat water racing who are passionate about supporting and developing paracanoe athletes. I believe all three will be strong partners and I look forward to working closely with them over the next two years.– Talent Club Partnership Manager, Charlie Barwis
Head of Talent, Richard Ramsdale said:
“By investing in our clubs we hope to grow Paracanoe within the paddle-sport community and build an accessible and integrated pathway for people to access and thrive in our sport. The Paracanoe Talent Club Partnership is a great opportunity for us to build a truly inclusive talent pathway in England, one that is more accessible across all Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.”
