The England Talent Programme is pleased to announce two new exciting partnerships with local Nottingham Universities.
Working with the England Talent Programme, the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University have both agreed to invest into Canoe Slalom in Nottingham. Each University is funding the cost of a Canoe Slalom University Performance Coach to work with their student athletes.
The partnership will develop and support talented student-athletes, in their student-athlete dual career, with a goal of helping them to achieve their performance potential at British University College Sport (BUCS) events, GB U23 Selection events and World/European age range championships.
Rich Ramsdale, Head of Talent at British Canoeing, said:
“This is such an exciting development within our sport, I am thrilled to be able to offer more support to more U23 athletes within our pathway.– Rich Ramsdale
"This is especially welcome at this critical time where the sport rebuilds after a hugely challenging period. I am so grateful to both Universities for having the confidence to partner with our programme and our sport and look forward to making this partnership a success.”
Phil Wood, University of Nottingham’s Scholarship and Recruitment Manager, said:
“It’s fantastic to further develop our relationship with British Canoeing through the establishment of this partnership. Supporting the development of our student-athletes is at the heart of what we do."
We look forward to seeing the impact of this opportunity to progress on to greater heights within their sport whilst balancing their degrees and ensuring they have a first class experience.– Phil Wood
Chris Campbell, Nottingham Trent University’s Head of Performance Sport, said:
Partnerships are at the heart of what we do at NTU Sport and to be able to sign this new agreement with British Canoeing is very exciting for our programme development.– Chris Campbell
"We look forward to working with the team at British Canoeing to enhance the experience of our student-athletes, keeping their development at the centre of everything we do”.
