The European Canoe Association has confirmed that Paracanoe will be included in the 2022 Multisport European Championships for the first time as they publish the competition calendar for the 2021 season.
Following the announcement last year that Canoe Sprint will be part of the 2022 Multisport European Championships, the ECA has now confirmed the competition will also include paracanoe as part of the programme, meaning both disciplines will be featuring in the event for the first time.
The ECA Board of Directors also discussed some changes in the European Championships Programme of the Olympic disciplines.
As Extreme Slalom will be a part of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the event has now been added to the Canoe Slalom European Championships in Ivrea, Italy and the Junior and U23 competition in Solkan, Slovenia. However, there will be minor changes in competition rules, such as advancement from time trials to the main phase as well as in setting of the course (eg. difference in number of the gates).
