The revised schedule has now been confirmed for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games next year, also confirming the date fans can expect to see the Paracanoe team in action next summer.
The Games were pushed back a year to 2021 back in April due to the coronavirus pandemic but now the new schedule is confirmed.
There will be three days of action for the paracanoe team as athletes take to the Sea Forest Waterway for the heats on 2 September before semi-finals and finals take place on the 3 & 4 September, with the men’s KL1 first up.
The opening ceremony will now take place on 24 August 2021 with the paracanoe team having to wait just over a week before getting into competition.
There are now nine medals up for grabs in Japan next year with the introduction of the three Va’a events for Tokyo.
These events add to the existing six Paralympic events which saw an impressive first appearance for British Canoeing’s Paracanoe athletes at the Paralympics in Rio, where the team came away with five medals.
