Following the success of the Paddlers Podcast Series last year, British Canoeing will be recording a new video Paddlecast series, that will be available for you to watch live on social media every week for the next six weeks. Once again, Olympic gold medallist, Etienne Stott will be hosting the show and speaking to a range of high profile guests!
“This is going to be a lot of fun, these are really challenging times and there are a lot of frustrated paddlers sat at home. I hope that through the new Paddlecast series we can bring a little bit of inspiration and hope to the community. We have some quality guests lined up, I can’t wait to get going!”
– Etienne Stott
To celebrate the launch, the new series will kick off with a double whammy. On Tuesday 5th May at 7pm a pre-recorded episode featuring two white-water hero’s, Sal Montgomery and Bren Orton followed by the first live paddlecast on Thursday 7 May.
Sal and Bren talk to Etienne about their adventures around the world, from huge falls to remote rivers. We find out what life is like for an adventurer in lockdown! Viewers will be able to watch via Twitter, Facebook and the British Canoeing YouTube channel. A recording of the show will also be made available online a few days later.
Episode two will be our first one to stream LIVE and is due to go out at 7pm on 7th May. This will feature a roundtable with the major manufacturers, Peak UK, Palm, Pyranha and Tootega, finding out how they are weathering the current crisis and what might be on the horizon for the future of paddling equipment. Members can send us in their questions in advance of the episode and our favourite questions will be featured LIVE in the episode. Commenting on the guest list for future episodes, Etienne said he was really excited about the lineup:
We have a real mix of guests joining us on Paddlecast, people from all corners of our sport. I don’t want to give away too much but I think we are going to have a lot of fun with this new project and people might be surprised when we announce who will be joining us!
