British Canoeing is delighted to announce that it is working in partnership with the Scottish Canoe Association who is recruiting for a two-year coaching apprenticeship as part of the sportscotland funded “Coaching Futures” programme.
This opportunity is open to any Canoe Slalom or Canoe Sprint athletes who are in the process of retirement or who have retired in the last three years and is a fantastic opportunity for an athlete to begin a career in coaching.
I’m delighted to announce the recruitment process for this programme and look forward to supporting the successful candidate as they continue their journey within our sport.– Jon Schofield, Head of Performance and Pathways at the SCA
The priority within the Coaching Futures programme is the development journey of the apprentice coach. As such, British Canoeing will be working with the SCA and sportscotland to provide a well supported bespoke development programme for the apprentice.
British Canoeing Performance Director, Paul Ratcliffe, said: “I’m excited by the opportunity offered through the Coaching Futures Programme to help an athlete build the foundations in coaching to progress towards a long term career.
I believe that as well as being great for developing the successful candidate, it will be a boost for the sport in Scotland and the UK as a whole.– British Canoeing Performance Director, Paul Ratcliffe
The programme will see experience and deployment across a range of levels of the athlete pathway and will be tailored throughout the two years to enhance the skill-set of the coach and prepare them to coach at their favoured level at the end of the process.
If this opportunity is of interest then please get in touch with the SCA to discuss anything in complete confidentiality.
