Hear from Larry, who has recently been undertaking the Guide Modules through a series of online sessions. Larry is located near Philadelphia in the USA, so the new offerings of online learning are a great way to get involved from anywhere in the world.
I started paddling 20 years ago at the age of 51. Since then, I have organised and led sea kayak expeditions from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, Maine, Pennsylvania and Alaska in the USA to Quebec Canada, Sweden and Baja Sur Mexico. I’m currently a Sea Kayak Leader and working towards my Advanced Sea Kayak Leader assessment. I primarily organise expeditions for local paddling clubs and friends. It is not a professional endeavour at this time, but since I am retired this could become a second profession.
The British Canoeing Guide Modules from WithDave became the perfect choice for training in this time of Covid-19 and social distancing. It also allows me to interact with and learn from other paddlers and expedition organizers abroad, providing a variety of perspectives.
The module training is very professional and provides as much detail discussion as is needed for the individual or group. The tasks are challenging and help reinforce and embed the training topics. Well done Dave.
Full details of the British Canoeing Guide Scheme, which includes the modules and the endorsement, can be found on the Guide section of the British Canoeing website.
