3 July 2020
As it stands, it is still clear within current government guidance that events cannot take place, however British Canoeing has developed a guidance document which explores how we potentially transition back to competition and events as government restrictions hopefully continue to ease.
As previously announced, British Canoeing domestic competitions, events and gatherings are currently cancelled until at least 31 July 2020.
The document outlines the principles that will be followed, the key decisions that organisers may have to make around the viability of an event and the risk reduction measures which will need to be in place to ensure the safety of all involved.
As government guidance changes, the guidance document will be updated but it is hoped that by outlining some initial areas for consideration, organisers can begin to plan for the future.
If there is no significant change in the government guidance for events before Monday 13 July then a rolling three-week cancellation will begin, meaning that events will be cancelled through until Monday 3 August. This will then roll on each week until guidance changes.
