Strong day for the Brits on day two of ICF U23 and Junior World Championships

It was a strong day for the British team on day two of the ICF U23 and Junior World Championships in Pitesti, with almost a full quota of A and B finalists.

Smith Gregory

Former World Junior K2 silver medallist Magnus Gregory and his partner Charlie Smith put in a valiant effort in the A Final of the U23 K2 1000m, where they finished seventh place overall. The pair showed exceptional endurance to finish strongly and only narrowly missed out on sixth place, by a margin of less than half a second, to cross the line in 3:33.542.

In her first year in the Under 23 age group, Chelmsford’s Emma Russell was fifth in the K1 1000m A Final. In a close contest at the back end of the race, she was just half a second off a podium spot and came home in 4.19.784.
