Paddle in the Park returns to The National Watersports Centre for 2019!

On the 1st and 2nd of June, Paddle in the Park, British Canoeing’s annual paddlesport festival returns to the National Water Sports Centre in Nottinghamshire as part of Go Paddling Week 2019, the biggest paddling event in the UK!

From newcomers to the sport to experienced paddlers, all are invited to get involved and the event promises fun for all the family, with plenty to see and do both on and off the water.

Experienced paddlers and those looking to develop their skills can book onto specialised workshops with some of the best coaches in their fields, enter one of the white water competitions, or make use of the discounted white water passes for the weekend, which are just £5.

For those who are new to paddling Start Paddling Passes to try flat water canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding (SUP) and rafting are just £5 per day, or £15 to include theLagoon Wipeout inflatable obstacle course.

Following huge demand last year, there will be more SUP options for 2019 - beginners will be able to try 'Intro to SUP’ workshops and the pros will be on the white water during the SUPX competition. Also new for this year, GBSUP are bringing their National Series to the event, which will see SUP races take place on the River Trent.

If you prefer to stay dry, simply come down and watch the action for free! With a trade village, food and drink stalls and exciting Freestyle, Boater X and SUPX competitions, you will be able to watch the thrills and spills as competitors navigate the white water course in kayaks and on stand up paddleboards; completing complex moves, 360 degree turns and technical maneuvers whilst trying to accumulate points and get down the course in the fastest time.

Paddle in the Park takes place during Go Paddling Week, which runs from the 25th May to 2nd June. Whether you have never been in a boat before or you love to get out and paddle regularly, Go Paddling Week has something for everyone, and this year the target is to get 10,000 people on the water!
