Alongside a week of Providers Development events, National Association Trainers of the Foundation Safety and Rescue Training and Paddlesport Leader took part in a standardisation and CPD event, run by British Canoeing.
The focus of the day was around developing skills to help balance the demands of assessing competence and sharing best practice. It a great opportunity for the Trainers to get in the water and demonstrate their own competence and workshop common problems we see on Provider Orientations and Moderations.
Facilitated by trainers Darryll Shaw and Darren Sherwood, getting stuck into practical workshops, sharing ideas and concepts, as well as discussing research areas within the syllabus.
It's really important for Trainers to come together and share their experiences of running programmes and prove that they are still competent. Our community puts a great deal of trust in us as the custodians of the standards of these awards and we all take that responsibility really seriously. It's also a great opportunity for our Trainers to complete some personal development.– Darryll Shaw, British Canoeing English Coaching Manager
