Congratulations to Kingston A, Meridian Ladies and Ulster U18 A who came out on top in their canoe polo competitions over the weekend.
Kingston A came away from the weekend as National Champions after beating Titans 7-3 in the final of the competition. Their victory also means they will now represent the UK at the European Club Championships in Catanya, Sicily, Italy in September.
Kingston eased out of their group with four wins from four, including another 7-3 victory over eventual finalists Titans. A 10-1 win over Meridian E, a 10-2 win over Avon and close encounter with Bridgend Sharks, which finished 4-3, saw them fly into the semi-finals.
A 6-2 victory in the semi-finals victory over Pennine A put them on course for the final, where their second victory of the day against Titans meant they were National Champions.
Meridian Ladies came out on top in a closely fought title battle between themselves and Bridgend Ladies. The round robin league in the end came down to just one game between the two clubs, which was played out early on in the day.
The game finished 2-1 to Meridian who went on to win their remaining fixtures and finish the competition with 18 points out of 18. Their standout victory was a 14-0 win over Blackwater Valley Ladies.
Ulster U18 A claimed the Youth title and defended their crown, with six wins from six in the round robin style competition. The crunch game was between themselves and second placed Bridgend Youth.
The fixture, again, contested early on during day one, with Ulster U18 coming out as comfortable 5-1 winners.
That defeat turned out to be Bridgend Youth’s only loss of the competition, as they finished just three points behind the title winners.
