Important notice: St James Weir, Exeter, has collapsed

If you are paddling on the River Exe please be aware that the St James Weir in Exeter has collapsed. There has been a large hole for some time and now the weir has been breached. The river is now flowing through a horrible section of broken concrete. It is unknown how safe it is to paddle though the broken section of the weir.

A related problem is that the river has started to take a new route and has caused a large sinkhole through the land that was connected to the weir at river left:

Paddlers are advised to exercise caution around this weir as it is uncertain as to how dangerous the weir is now to shoot
