Congratulations to Mayo who recently became a British Canoeing Freestyle Coach!
Meet Mayo, Freestyle paddler turned Coach! Mayo took her Freestyle Coach Training in August and recently passed her Freestyle Coach Assessment, with coach Chris Brain.
Here's what she had to say about passing her assessment.
It feels amazing to have passed my Freestyle Coach, I love freestyle kayaking and I can’t wait to help others through their journey in the freestyling world! Achieving this award means so much to me as it is what I have wanted for a long time. It is such a friendly and passionate sport which makes it possible to experience many adventures all around the world on different features and enjoy every minute on the water! So many people have been a part of getting me into freestyle and the happiness I feel when I sit in my freestyle boat, I want others to feel because it is awesome! The support that I have been given from many different coaches, especially Chris Brain who got me through this award, is immense. I am glad to know so many people who share the love of kayaking in general but my best friends have egged me on and helped get me where I am today! I have always aspired to be a Freestyle Coach ever since I got on the GB Team, our coaches are amazing and to do what they do is such a challenge, to break moves down, to score them and to help everyone better themselves is such a brilliant thing to see and I want to help change paddlers lives like my coaches helped me!– Mayo, on passing her assessment
