It was a positive start for the canoe sprint team at the second European Games in Minsk, Belarus, as both Tom Lusty and the crew boat of Katie Reid and Chloe Bracewell made A Finals on day one of the regatta.
Tom Lusty will race in Wednesday morning's men's K1 1000m A Final after coming through Tuesday's semi-final in third place.
It was a pleasing delivery from Lusty as he put down a time of 3:37.531, just hours after coming through the heats comfortably.
He remained close to the leading pack throughout and will be full of confidence heading into tomorrow's A final at 8:10am.
Speaking after the race he said:
Elsewhere, Katie Reid and Chloe Bracewell will also compete in the A Final with an excellent 2nd place in their C2W 500m semi-finals.
An issue with their start bucket meant they had to switch lanes, but that didn't faze the duo as they delivered a time of 2:01.039, nearly a second quicker than their heats time, and comfortably into the A final on Thursday morning.
The duo were delighted with how they performed:
The fourth and final athlete out in Minsk is C1W 200m athlete Afton Fitzhenry, who will be in action for the first time tomorrow lunchtime at 12:40pm.
