Sunday 24th June saw the first meeting of the new Recreational Touring Advisory Group. The group of volunteers was created to help shape, improve and update British Canoeing's work around recreational touring with the aim of increasing participation.
The main focus of this first session was reviewing the current touring awards, with regional tours and recreational events also discussed. Lots of great ideas and opportunities were identified by the group, which can now be taken forward by British Canoeing.
It was great to get some fresh perspectives on recreational touring. I'm confident that the group will help us to strengthen our work in this area, with the aim of getting more people out enjoying the water.– Jenny Spencer, Go Canoeing Development Manager
The next meeting, in August, will be centred around social paddling and touring.
