British Canoeing hosted an ICF Trainee Classifiers course at the National Water Sports Centre on 17 and 18 July as part of the International Relations Strategy.
13 delegates from Israel, South Korea, Australia, Germany, Spain, Holland and Great Britain attended the course in Nottingham, which was delivered by ICF Board Member and ICF Paracanoe Committee Chair, John Edwards and ICF head of Classification, Fatima Fernandez.
All attendees passed and now become National Classifiers, with the ability to classify Paracanoe paddlers in their respective countries.
Congratulations to Helen Blamey, Elena Winter, Suzy Hornby and Charlotte Wade from Great Britain who took part in the course and are now qualified to classify paddlers to compete in national regattas and move on to ICF events for national classification.
The hosting of the course is also integral to the development of British Canoeing's National Classification Policy, which will be published in September, in line with the British Paralympic Association's Classification Code.
