Athletes representing Great Britain at the Youth Olympic Games World Qualification Selection Race

Today (12 April 2018) marks the opening day of racing at the Youth Olympic Games World Qualification event taking place in Castelldefels, Barcelona. The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) provides an opportunity for young athletes to gain multisport event experience (athletes compete in both Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom) and aid their development into senior athletes capable of medal winning success at future Olympic Games.

Four junior paddlers will be representing Great Britain at this event and will be competing to qualify nation spots to race at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October 2018.

The four paddlers representing Great Britain are:

  • K1M Thomas Mayer (Stafford & Stone CC)
  • K1M Ross Dixon (Lee Valley PC)
  • K1W Lois Leaver (Edinburgh Schools KC)
  • K1W & C1W Lili Bryant (Llandysul Paddlers)

You can watch this live on the ICF website here.

We wish these athletes the best of luck!
