Alan Laws to step down from Marathon Racing Committee

Alan Laws has made the decision to step down from the Marathon Racing Committee, and as Chairman of Selectors, following nearly half a century of voluntary work in the sport at national and international level.

Alan was appointed to the MRC for the first time in 1969 and apart from a period as Chairman of the BCU has been a member ever since, serving as Chairman for 28 years. During this time Alan also served on the International Canoe Federation’s own marathon committee for 34 years, steering the sport from its first World Championships (held in Nottingham in 1988), to the highly professional, multi-day championships that they are today.

British Canoeing would like to thank Alan for his dedication and commitment to the sport over the years.
