British Canoeing has today announced that Canoe Sprint Performance Manager Heather Williams is to leave the organisation, as a result of a restructure to the Canoe Sprint programme.
Heather has been with the British Canoeing World Class Programme for the last five years and in that time has been instrumental in developing and leading the England Talent Programme and the Sprint Olympic Development Programme.
As a member of the Performance Leadership Team, Heather led the development of the Sprint Strategic Plan for Tokyo 2020 and the Sport England Talent Strategy which resulted in significant continued investment into canoeing for the 2017-21 cycle.
In November 2016, following a rigorous external recruitment process, she was appointed to the newly created Canoe Sprint Performance Manager role.
David Joy, Chief Executive of British Canoeing said:
“Heather has been a tremendous asset to British Canoeing, demonstrating commitment, adaptability and strong management skills in building the Talent Programme and the Canoe Sprint Olympic Development Programme.
During the last nine months Heather has led the sprint programme well, helping to bring stability during a significant period of change.– David Joy, Chief Executive of British Canoeing
“I would like to thank Heather for her hard work and dedication during her time with us and to wish her every success for the future.”
Heather will be leaving British Canoeing with effect from 15th September 2017.
