New canoe trails launched by British Canoeing

British Canoeing has launched several new canoe trails across the country in a brand new, visually impressive format to encourage more people to pick up a paddle and embrace the great outdoors.

This new format will eventually be rolled out across the current suite of 110 trails, as well as new trails, marking a change in the way people can access information on where to paddle. All trails come with vital information such as parking points, toilets, pubs and café’s, portage points and trail length in miles.

The trails also include a geographically accurate illustrated map, detailed written description; licensing and membership information for each specific waterway plus access to a GPX file where people can download the trail straight to their sat nav’s or watches for accuracy when undertaking the trail.

It is hoped they will encourage more people to paddle in new, exciting locations across the whole of the UK and provide paddlers with the information they need to enjoy their time on the water. All canoe trails on the website* can be paddled with a British Canoeing membership.

Speaking about the new trails, Ben Seal, Places to Paddle Manager at British Canoeing said,

We are really excited to launch these new Canoe Trails and hope that they will offer even more inspiration to paddlers to get out and go on a canoeing adventure somewhere new – or possibly rediscover a local hidden gem! The team at British Canoeing are really proud of the new look.

– Ben Seal, Places to Paddle Manager

The trails are free to access and download on the British Canoeing website. New trails will be added and updated monthly. The Canoe Near You feature on the British Canoeing website currently hosts 112 canoe trails which can be used to filter trails by location.

*all trails can be paddled with British Canoeing membership unless otherwise stated. Please consult the 'licensing information' on each PDF for further details.
