University students are a prime group of young adults, keen to take part in and try new activities or develop existing skills. Some students arrive at university having already experienced canoeing and are keen to continue or do more, whereas for some it may be the first time they have had the opportunity.

Often due to new surroundings and a change to lifestyle patterns, tracking and supporting student’s initial interest in canoeing and maintaining regular participation has often been left to the university clubs alone.

In order to capture and develop that interest as well as appeal to newcomers, British Canoeing has several opportunities aimed at helping boost the number of University students participating in Paddlesport.

The following Opportunities and Resources are specifically designed for students.

  • U Canoe
  • Higher Education Canoe Representative Scheme
  • BUCS
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award

Additional Opportunities

  • Personal Performance Awards
  • Go Canoeing
  • Clubs
