Event promotion and endorsement
British Canoeing provides a free service which helps you promote and endorse canoeing events. This includes events which involve canoeing as part of a multi-sport event.
This service is only available for events taking place in England. It is open to our English affiliated clubs and centres and is also available to other non-affiliated organisations by application. Promotion of your event is offered free of charge. A higher level of support, promotion and endorsement is subject to a small charge.
Our Event Promotion Guidelines will help you reach the widest audience through our information and marketing channels.
All event organisers simply need to complete a registration form, submit evidence of insurance and a competent risk assessment ideally a minimum of 12 weeks before the event. Some events may need longer depending on the form of promotion required. Registration forms are available from and should be returned to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Permission to run your event on a river or canal navigation
If you are planning an event on a waterway covered by a navigation authority, you will need to check the licence requirements for the event’s participants. As an example, both Canal & River Trust and the Environment Agency require event participants (even those covered by the event’s insurance) to hold a day licence if they are not covered under either an individual British Canoeing membership or an affiliated club membership. We also strongly recommend informing the Navigation Authority about any events planned for their waterways.
