Advanced Water Endorsement

This award is designed for coaches who aspire to work in Advanced Water Environments, and is available in White Water Kayak, White Water Canoe, Open Water Canoe, Sea, and Surf.

The course provides coaches with the tools to be able to develop paddlers with a range of abilities in the advanced water environment, and to go away and start practicing their application.

You need to register before attending an Advanced Water Endorsement training course.

It is advisable to do this at least two weeks prior to the training course. At the point of registration for training the following prerequisites are required:

Expand Course Content

The course will help candidates apply skills developed through previous qualifications, to coach paddlers working in advanced water situations.

This will include:

  • Coaching technical skills (e.g. Moderate and Advanced Water Leader Skills)
  • Developing tactics for the discipline and environment
  • Developing physiological elements and psychological skills

Expand Course Structure

The Advanced Water Endorsement training course is run over a minimum of two days.

Providers often offer longer courses to allow more time for learning and development. Candidates have a maximum of three years after training to present for a final assessment, during which time they will be required to consolidate their skills in a series of logged coaching days. The Advanced Water Endorsement practical assessment will normally take place over one day with the course introduction and welcome will often take place the evening before.

The Advanced Water Endorsement assessment normally takes place over one day and must be completed within three years of the training day.

Candidates will need to take their stamped CR Form to their assessment so that it can be signed by the Director and sent in to the relevant Home Nation Association for certification.
