The last weekend in September will be the Freestyle European Open. Using the white water waves on the course at Holme Pierrepont, the freestyle athletes will be performing tricks and stunts in their boats to get the most points to be crowned the champion!

More information here:

This event will contain the Freestyle British Championships, Club Championships and an Open European Competition. With such a wide variety of competition the weekend is set to see the top British freestyle kayakers, and European freestyle kayakers come together to compete in a wide range of events, from freestyle kayaking to boater cross.

Saturday: Athletes will battle it out in the freestyle competition to try and gain the title of British Champion in their chosen category. Heats will take place throughout the day, accumulating in an evening final where each champion will be crowned. Every paddler is also collecting points for their kayak club to go towards the club championship.

BBQ’s will be available, where people are free to cook their own food. With live results, music and commentary it is always a good atmosphere.

Once the BBQ’s have died down and our champions are crowned there will be an evening party at the local rugby club to celebrate. River Legacy will play host to paddlers, supporters and spectators by putting on music and opening the bar for all.

Sunday: Competitions will continue to run across the day. It will conclude with the final of the boater cross competition, an exciting race where paddlers complete a course head to head with the winner taking all.
