Coaching Matters Events

To support your development as a coach, British Canoeing offers a programme of Coaching Matters events. Organised alongside the Regional Development Teams and run by Coaching Representatives, these provide development opportunities locally.

From 2015 these events replace Coach Update Forums and are structured to enable you to develop your knowledge, skills and understanding in:

  • Coaching Aspects
These include workshops to enhance your technical abilities (what to coach), understanding the coaching process (how to coach), and assessing (how to lead) abilities.
  • Safe Practice
These include workshops to keep you up to date with different aspects of water safety, risk management and current legislation and guidelines on ensuring safety.

Participation at one of these events will automatically count towards the Continuous Personal Development requirement of the Coach Update Scheme, and is valid for three years from the date attended.
