Expand Sheltered Water

Overview

The Bellboat is a twin hulled open canoe seating up to 14 children or eight adults plus the helm. Bellboating is fun and rewarding and can be used in outdoor education, expeditions and competition. 

Leadership training offered by British Canoeing is embedded into the Paddlesport Leader Award. As well as developing personal skills, these award provide basic leadership training in the sheltered water environment.

Overview

Leadership training offered by British Canoeing is embedded into the Moderate Water Leader Awards. As well as developing advanced personal skills, these discipline specific awards provide basic leadership training in the moderate water environment.

White Water Kayak Leader

This course delivers the skill level required to lead a group of paddlers in appropriate locations, up to moderate white water conditions and to judge the conditions and the standard of the group and make appropriate decisions along with the need to modify plans as required.

White Water OC1 Leader

This course delivers the skill level required to lead a group of paddlers in appropriate locations, up to moderate white water conditions and to judge the conditions and the standard of the group and make appropriate decisions along with the need to modify plans as required.

Canoe Leader

This course delivers the personal skill level required to lead a group of up to four solo canoe paddlers or three tandem canoe crews, on Moderate White Water and Moderate Inland Water

Sea Kayak Leader

This course delivers the personal skill level and leadership ability required to lead a group of paddlers, on short, single or multi-day journeys in a moderate tidal water environment with winds not exceeding Beaufort Force 4.

Surf Kayak Leader

This course delivers the personal skills and the ability to manage a group of surf paddlers in moderate surf environments, and to judge the conditions and the standard of the group and make appropriate decisions.

4 Star Touring Leader

British Canoeing is removing the 4 Star Touring Leadership Award from the suite of qualifications; as it has a significant amount of cross-over/duplication with the new Paddlesport Leader Award. Candidates who have already undertaken their 4 Star Touring training have three years from the date of training to complete their assessment.

This course demonstrates a candidate has entered the top level of performance, involving a high level of personal skill, leadership ability and judgement to lead groups of paddlers with a range of experience, up to and including advanced white water kayak.

Overview

British Canoeing offer three awards for leadership and guide, training and assessment. These awards cover controlled stadium venues, as well as natural rivers. Training and assessment cover personal paddling skills, rescue skills, safety and group skills and theory.

Stadium Raft Guide

The British Canoeing Stadium Raft Guide award is aimed at anyone over the age of 18 who would like to take groups of people white water rafting on a man made artificial site such as CIWW, Nottingham, Lee Valley etc.

The British Canoeing River Raft Guide award is aimed at anyone over the age of 18 who would like to take groups of people white water rafting on natural rivers.

River Trip Leader

The British Canoeing River Trip Leader award is aimed at the experienced River Raft Guide who progresses to be in charge of the flotilla of rafts on a natural river.

Expand Cadet Leader Award

Overview

British Canoeing has launched the Paddlesport Activity Assistant, an endorsement recognised by British Canoeing to support clubs, organisations and volunteers and supports the delivery of paddlesport activities by developing volunteers. Due to the cross over with the Cadet Leader Award, British Canoeing will be removing the Cadet Leader option. 

Candidates who have already started their Cadet Leader Award have until 31st July 2018 to complete their award.
