British Canoeing International

British Canoeing Qualifications and Awards are held in high regard within the worldwide paddlesport community and British Canoeing want to support coaches delivering courses internationally.

Expand UK Resident Coaches

Running British Canoeing Courses Internationally

The following processes are to provide clarity for UK resident providers operating internationally.

Running Bc Courses Internationally V3

British Canoeing International Endorsement: Any UK resident provider wanting to run British Canoeing qualifications and awards internationally for non-UK residents must have completed an International Endorsement and have this authorised by British Canoeing International. British Canoeing Coach Educators wanting to deliver British Canoeing Coaching Award internationally must also complete an International Endorsement. (UK Resident Providers who wish to deliver 3 Star Awards, Leadership Awards, Safety training or Supporting Modules internally for UK residents, do not need special permission and should follow the usual course authorisation procedure).

International Endorsements must be completed annually from the 1st January.

International Authorisation:

All British Canoeing qualification and awards being run internationally for UK residents should follow their Home Nation course authorisation request procedure.

All British Canoeing qualification and awards being run internationally for non-UK residents must have been authorised by British Canoeing using the Course Authorisation Request Form - British Canoeing International.

British Canoeing International Training or Assessment: Delivery of British Canoeing qualifications and awards must be in line with the British Canoeing Terms of Reference and associated training and assessment notes.

End of Course Administration: All relevant paperwork and payment must be returned to the authorising delivery centre within 7 working days to be processed. Certificates will be processed within 5 working days.

Please return British Canoeing International courses to coaching@britishcanoeing.org.uk or British Canoeing, National Water Sports Centre, Adbolton Lane, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, NG12 2LU.

Expand Non-UK Resident Coaches

Becoming a British Canoeing Provider

The following processes are to provide clarity for non-UK resident coaches wanting to become providers of British Canoeing qualifications and awards.

International Coaches Becoming Providers

Any non-UK resident coach wishing to become a British Canoeing Provider needs to be a member of British Canoeing or the Home Nations.

Request a Provider Logbook: Any non-UK resident coaches wishing to work towards becoming a British Canoeing Provider must hold the appropriate prerequisites and then request a Provider Logbook from British Canoeing International.

Attend a Provider Orientation Course: Provider Orientation Courses can be booked through the British Canoeing Course Provider Development Programme

Consolidation/Experience: Aspirant Providers should work on a variety of relevant programmes with different Providers, acting as an observer, assistant and lead deliverer.

British Canoeing Final Observation for Provider Status: Once all actions have been completed and an appropriate number of courses delivered, aspirant providers must send their completed logbook into British Canoeing International. An appropriate final observation can then be allocated by British Canoeing.

Expand International Prices & Documents

International Prices & Documents

British Canoeing fees differ for UK residents and and international residents.  While British Canoeing is keen to see the continued development of paddlesport worldwide and support members working overseas, it must be recognised that British Canoeing and the Home Nation Associations are financially supported by the various UK Sports Councils and commercial companies alike. It would be inappropriate to use that funding to subsidise other paddlers outside of the UK. In addition, there are additional costs associated with posting registration and certification materials to overseas addresses.
