Time Requirements:The Organising Committee will hold Board meetings every 2 months. In addition, trustees are expected to attend other committee meetings as necessary as well as occasionally attending profile-raising events for the Games. The total time varies depending on committee membership, but on average it will be two or three days per month.

Assistant Centre Manager - with responsibility for paddlesports programme

£18,000 – £25,000 per annum - dependent on experience

Leam Boat Centre is a small but vibrant paddlesports centre based in the centre of Leamington Spa, with a tight knit community of staff and customers. No two days are the same which makes the centre a fun and unique place to be.

For a bright, enthusiastic and hard working paddler, this is a great opportunity to join our team on a permanent full time contract.

You will take a leading role (with support from the centre manager) in the planning and delivery of a wide range of sessions in canoe, kayak, and SUP. We offer a broad program covering kid courses, taster sessions, qualification courses and training, birthday parties, and weekend river trips away. Our clients include school and youth groups, adults, children, families, corporate groups - the lot!

You will work alongside the manager, existing coaches and deck crew to ensure the smooth day to day running of the centre to the consistently high professional standards that our customers expect.

Other responsibilities will include ensuring public boat hire operations run smoothly and safely, the canoe and kayak kit shop is looked after when manager is off and customer enquiries are dealt with quickly and professionally.

The role is a physical job and you will need to be fit and strong. The ideal candidate would be someone that's hard-working, friendly and willing to get stuck in! You will need to be confident with both customers and staff, and have a professional approach to work.

This is a full time contract with a uniform monthly wage - however due to the seasonal nature of the business you will work more days in the summer and less over the winter months, allowing more time for your personal paddling.

Essential Qualities:

  • Enthusiasm towards paddlesport
  • UKCC Level 2 Coach
  • First class telephone manner and interpersonal skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Good level of computer literacy and numeracy
  • Able to work under own initiative and within a team
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work under pressure
  • Hold a mature and responsible attitude to work
  • Non-smoker

Desirable Qualities:

  • Any leader (or 4 star) qualifications - whitewater, open canoe or sea
  • Evidence of success in a previous supervisory or leadership role
  • Degree or similar
  • Practical maintenance skills, any mechanical, electrical or carpentry experience
  • Full driving licence and own transport
  • Coach Educator

Canoe Wales – Membership Assistant (PT)

Canoe Wales are currently recruiting a part-time Membership Assistant to work out of our head office at the National White Water Centre in Bala, North Wales.

As our Membership Assistant, you’ll be the first point of contact for our members when joining Canoe Wales, renewing their membership or contacting us for help – and it’s your job to provide excellent customer service and ensure that all enquiries are responded to quickly and professionally. You’ll need to be confident with using our online membership database (we’ll provide all the training you’ll need) and be friendly and engaging on the phone and in writing. This role requires great attention to detail and a willingness to learn new administrative skills – which could include everything from printing membership cards, to updating member records online to responding to Facebook messages.

Schools Club Liaison Coach - Norwich Canoe Club

A contract to deliver Coaching for Norwich Canoe Club to help with the 2018/2019 season.

£15 an hour up to a maximum of 50 hours a month if the work available ( may be made up by one
or more coaches) for a one year period initially.

The successful applicant (or their appointed and club approved deputy) will be a passionate flat
water racing coach who is ambitious to bring junior athletes from all areas of the community into
the sport and onto the British Canoeing talent pathway at Norwich Canoe Club. The role will
require someone who can communicate, plan and organise and be enthusiastic, resourceful and
independent. They will be comfortable making dynamic decisions when faced with unexpected
challenges with groups, paddlers or conditions. The Schools Club Liaison Coach will be ambitious
to develop their own coaching skills and qualifications, and they will be strongly supported in all
areas by Senior NCC coaches and the committee.
